You have to see this!! While I was at The Special Event Show, I was so lucky to meet Brett Culp and see one of the most amazing technology advances to happen to video in a very long time. I was impressed -- to say the least -- it actually made me drop my jaw since I hadn't seen anything like it anywhere aside from on tv commercials.
The image separation technology he's using is amazing to me (and I'm a bit of a sucker for a popup book). This video montge and takes the experience of watching your pictures to a new dimension in a totally non-cheesy way (which is a total rarity in the wedding video business).
Video Montage:
Brett is also a master event video producer who entered the field in 1998. with a huge clientele list including Author Tom Clancy, Singer Howie Dorough of The Backstreet Boys, Actress Delta Burke (“Designing Women”), Actor Gerald McRaney (“Major Dad” & “Jericho”), NY Yankee Johnny Damon, Football MVP Marshall Faulk, Jordan Ambassador to the USAKarim Kawar, NBA championship player Horace Grant, General Manager of the San Francisco Giants Brian Sabean, Owner Tampa Bay Buccaneers & Manchester United Soccer Team Brian Glazier, The Phipps family and the duPont family. You can check out his website for even MORE amazing clips about how to tell your life as a story.
Brett has appeared on Entertainment Tonight, Lifetime Network, and Martha Stewart Radio. He has been featured in Modern Bride, Brides, and US Weekly.
You Are A Story:
I also love his take on the fact that your video is a STORY...and Brett asks the question...."What is a story?"
The answers Brett tells are so true..."A story is more than an account of things that have happened. Stories express the mystery of living. They reflect the essence of who we are and the dreams that connect us.
You are a story. Your life is a story being told. The purpose of your story is to reveal the beauty of being alive. You are not defined in one moment but in a series of brief tales. The fullness of your story will take a lifetime to discover.
Aristotle said that every story has a Beginning, a Middle, and an End. Your story is also being told in this way.
Everything that has come before this moment is your Beginning. The past is the introduction to your tale. The places you have been. The people you have known. The challenges you have overcome. The mistakes you have made. These are your Beginnings. Your story comes to life in your memories. You cannot put a price on the beautiful moments you have experienced. Your identity has been formed by the love you have been shown and the relationships you have developed.
The Middle of your story is happening in this instant. You are living and writing it now. No matter what stage of life you find yourself, the present moment is always the Middle. This moment contains everything you need to be complete. This instant is filled with all of the world’s happiness, and it is available to you. By setting aside the hurts of your past and embracing only the beauty of your story, you discover your truest self in this moment.
The End is the future of your story. Because the future is unknown, it is tempting to see it through the eyes of fear. But the finest stories carry a message of hope. When you choose to see the future with hope, you find strength in the present moment. You cannot live in bliss without a dream in your heart. Hope is the blessing of living within a dream. Knowing your passionate desire is the path to a destiny of beauty.
The key to finding joy in life is learning to celebrate your story. Every stage of your journey is worthy of gratitude. You uncover the purpose of your story by learning to embrace your past, find peace in the present, and dream about the splendor of your future. In honoring each step of the journey you reveal the beauty of life.
The present quickly becomes the past. It transforms from a moment into a memory before you can take in the fullness of the experience. This makes your memories priceless. Without them, it is impossible to celebrate your journey.
You can embrace the beauty of your story by capturing your memories. You have the power to document the experiences of your life. When you record your personal narrative, you honor the path you have taken.
You bless those who discover your story through the tale you have chronicled. Generations to come may rekindle their passion for life through the vision you share.
As you open your heart to your own story, you will find the desire to cherish the stories of others. There is incredible wonder and grace in the fellowship of our tales. You find yourself as you share your story. You grow stronger as you welcome the stories of others.
You are a beautiful story. Embrace it. Celebrate it. Share it. Live it." -- (c) Brett Culp

I had the honor of meeting Brett several years ago while we were both speaking at a videographers conference (WEVA) -
As great as his video and technique is... the secret to his success is his personality and the way he connects with and cares for his clients.
