How Not to Ask For A Discount...

We all know there is a recession and believe me when I tell you that wedding vendors are not immune.  In fact, most of them already have offered their discounts -- beginning last year -- so your formerly $7,000 photographer is now a $5,000 photographer, your formerly $100 per plate dinner is now $75 per plate.  But there's a way to ask for a discount and remember that vendors have the right to say no.  After all, if you were to go to work one day and the boss were to tell you that they're cutting your pay by $10 per hour you might be really unhappy.  Think of the people you are paying to provide the service and if you are getting a good deal already or be like one of these people:

I think this is a really great topic to address. DIYing is becoming more and more popular, leaving vendors in the dust. While I wouldn't agree with completely ditching a client because they asked for a discount, it was insensitive of them to ask after you gave them a great price.

Don't get me started on this topic. I gave a potential client a great price of full service wedding planning, then she had the audacity to ask me what the "recession discount was going to be" along with looking at my proposal to see what else I could shave off. Needless to say I told her goodbye and to think about hiring me and promptly called her later to let her know I got booked. No need to deal with someone who doesn't appreciate what my services and customer services is really worth.
