I received this lovely email from a reader who didn't say I could post their name but it's an AWESOME "Oh No"... read on...
I have a real groaner – A couple who made their guests (wait for it) PAY for their drinks AND DINNER!!!!
That's right - 25 people schlepped it from northern Canada to Central America and the bride made them pay for their $25 per person dinner and their drinks.
She paid for a few hors d'oerves during cocktail hour, sparkling wine, water and beer but from dinner onwards, they were on their own. Even their wedding party. When I mentioned that it was something frowned upon, she said she's having a 200 person reception back in Canada so couldn't afford it. Then why bother, is what I wanted to ask.
And after the wedding, she wrote to complain that she didn't see 120 hors d'oeurves and thought they had been overcharged on the number of bottles of sparkling wine consumed. And that the FREE programs we made for her weren't all collected and given to the guests after the wedding (um, the guests left them on the chairs and the wind blew them down the beach).
Anyways, it takes all kinds. I'm still shocked by it all- how anyone could ask people to spend money to come all the way to Central America and not even pay for their meals is mindboggling to me.
So...you ask, what's wrong with that? I'd like to see how many things wrong you can find, dear readers. Post away...
Hmmm, did they really need to go to Central America - I'm thinking one plane ticket would have made up for the cost of food for - oh, 40 people! But how nice of her to provide water so guests could swallow the bill a little easier!
